Q: Does Columbia Kitchens offer installation?
A: No. Columbia Kitchens is a local wholesale distributor where contractors and builders have purchased their cabinets for over 30 years, so we have kept costs low by not having the huge overhead associated with installation teams. We work directly with the homeowner, or with a contractor or builder of their choosing, to design the room and provide the materials needed to complete the project.
Q: Does Columbia Kitchens only provide cabinets for the kitchen?
A: No, not at all. At Columbia Kitchens, cabinetry can be used for bathrooms, offices, dens, entertainment areas, bedrooms, wet bars, butler’s pantries, as well as the traditional kitchen area. Anywhere you need additional storage; cabinets can be a great addition to a room. And don’t forget the counters. We offer laminates, Corian, Quartz surfaces, and Granite to top off your cabinet project.
Q: What makes Columbia Kitchens different from home centers?
A: We are a locally owned family business, who, for three generations, has relied mostly on word-of-mouth from satisfied homeowners to advertise for us. We can’t afford to advertise as extensively as those large box stores, and our wholesale pricing reflects that savings. At Columbia Kitchens, you will work with an experienced designer who can help to create the look you desire, not just fill the space with available cabinets. We offer several different cabinet manufacturers to fit your time and budget constraints and can provide more selection to meet your design needs. At Columbia Kitchens you are treated as a person with individual needs and not just the next in line.
Q: Does Columbia Kitchens offer refacing?
A: No. Columbia Kitchens only offers new cabinetry, with updated drawer boxes, glides, and shelving. Refacing sounds like an inexpensive way to get a new look for your kitchen, but the interiors of your cabinets will remain the same. Refacing is also very labor intensive and the cost to reface is often much more than purchasing brand new cabinets. Before signing with a high pressure salesperson to reface, please get an estimate on new cabinets. You will be surprised at the difference.
Q: What does a new kitchen cost?
A: This is the most asked question, and the hardest to answer. At Columbia Kitchens, we do not have pricing for a standard kitchen, because there is no “standard” kitchen. We price our designs based on your kitchen size and your cabinet selections. There are so many variables including door styles, wood species, stain and glazing choices, drawer and cabinet upgrades, countertop selections, optional accessories…the list goes on. You can purchase kitchen cabinets for $1200 - $12,000 and anything in between. Here at Columbia Kitchens, there will be something to fit your budget.
Q: How do I measure my kitchen?
A: To get your design process underway or just to get a quick quote, it is helpful to bring your measurements to the showroom. The first step is to start in a corner and measure each wall continuing along until all walls are measured. Make sure to measure to any breaking points (windows, doors etc...) and include the width and height of those items as well. Door and window measurements should include any trim. The floor to ceiling measurement should be noted, as well as the position of any bulkheads. You should also include the location of any appliances, sink centerlines, existing outlets, switches, and ducts. These measurements are preliminary and used for quoting purposes. Before your order is placed, it is best to have your contractor or the designer come to your home to confirm all of your measurements.
